Hot on the heels of the 2mach remake, a mapper who goes by Scragnog has ported Fortress Forever’s well6 for TF2. I loaded it up, and it has some quirks. You cannot see the window grating in the flag room, which makes it tough to get through, there is no health in the attic, and the gate is closed (no detpacks in TF2). Update: I’m told sticky bombs blow the grate. I don’t think this will make the Ht Servers pub rotation due to its massive size (89 megs unzipped) and gameplay bugs, however, we might run some PUGs on it for nostalgia.

REV6|VilePickle dropped into #tf2 to announce he had made mach for TF2. Vilepickle has done mapwork with the last big fortress remake, ETF, which was full of great maps. Mach was always a overcrowded pub map in the last few fortress remakes. It was ideally a 3v3 – 6v6 CTF map. Any new CTF map is a welcomed CTF map that is for sure.

Install directions are included in the readme, just extract to “Steam/steamapps/$$Your Steam ID$$/team fortress 2/tf/maps”. By default steam is under c:\Program Files.
As long as it is proves functional we will start running it on Ht servers in the near future.

So todays TF2 news brings a nerf and a buff.
Demoman grenades (not stickybombs) no longer explode on contact after the first bounce
Well, this is big nerf for my fellow spammomen. No longer will you get those lucky bounces, if you don’t make direct contact you aren’t getting the kill anymore. I fully agree with this move however, the game has gotten quite spammy and demomen are the main culprit.

This pyro buff we knew was coming. The class needed a slight touch to make them more viable. But from what we’ve heard already this has become the new spam class with fire flowing from everywhere. But, we’ll accept this one because the pyro has the best voice samples.

I don’t know if many of you have heard of Fury but you will shortly as they have announced they will be having a $2 million ladder system during the beta. This will guarantee they have a shitload of people to test their server loads. There’s a lot of people on the fence about this MMO. While it uses the Unreal engine it’s been said they don’t know how to optimise with it and don’t get nearly the power out of it that Gears of War managed. But $2 million to rape noobs…maybe worth exploring!

There was a TF2 patch today and it had one significant change. No more friendly fire!?!? Wow. I think this just shows the changes we’re all expecting to help with balancing for clan play aren’t coming and their big picture is mass market appeal and not the TF community that has been waiting for 10 years for this. Gametribe has announced they are bringing their range of free MMO games to the UK. Already with hundreds of thousands of Korean users they expect some of their more popular games like Kicks the soccer MMO to be huge there. So I guess the real question is, it free for us dominant nations as well?
