While the PS3 is becoming a more relevant console day by day it still hasn’t built the user base to be able to compete with the 360 when it comes to online gaming. Even great games like Killzone 2 have dwindling populations. One of Sony’s attempts at building their own online community was by introducing the PS3 Home environment. I’ve had the (dis)pleasure of being in the beta since it launched and over those years we’ve virtually seen nothing exciting. Lots of empty promises but nothing worth getting. In fact the whole thing is annoying with having to always download and Sony proves you can really butcher a good idea. Here’s an article on how lame Home currently is. Also, here’s someone who thinks Home will succeed.
Champions Online is the next stage of the original City of Heroes motif and looks to actually have some serious potential. So of course when the beta for that opens up you’ll all be the first to hear about it. But this is just dumb, if you do want a shot at the closed beta then you’ll have to play their little game of cat n’ mouse and do some of their marketing for them. There’s a contest going on right now where you can come up with a phrase/motto and the top 10 then go into a poll that decides the winner who gets the closed beta account. Way too much work to try the game out in my opinion but if you’re bored, give it a shot. So you don’t go home empty handed however I did round up an open beta that is actually accepting people, it’s for Titan Online. I know I know it’s like winning the bronze in the Special Olympics and any attempt at mixing martial arts and robots is just plain stupid but free is free!
You will all agree it’s important to live somewhere comfortable. With housing prices always on the rise you’re not always going to be able to secure the place of your dreams and sometimes have to settle with a smaller place. But just remember when you’re looking at the 600 square foot apartment wondering why you’re sleeping in the same room you cook in that it could be much worse. You could be living in this closet in Tokyo.
I had the pleasure of working for Rockstar Games for a couple of years. My goal as a game developer was to learn enough to be able to one day design my own open world title like Grand Theft Auto. I got to work on 2 open world games that taught me a lot of what needs to happen to bring one of these worlds to fruition. In my spare time I wrote a full design for a prison themed open world where the player must battle through being incarcerated, fending for his life (and anal virginity) and then eventually becoming the prison kingpin or even escaping. But, I had to end up leaving Rockstar and never got a chance to pitch the game. Most publishers are way too scared to do adult content like this and won’t touch this pitch with a 10 foot shiv. So I was pretty displeased when I saw that someone is making something similar. But I can remain calm because this idea looks absolutely horrible!

Never really been into anime at all, UltraCarl is our resident anime guru. I’ve watched a few, been confused by a few others. I can appreciate the art styles and the wacky stories but in general they just don’t suck me in all that much. However, the upcoming ‘Cat Shit One’ looks very entertaining.
