Dyslexic Diatribe

Grind Time

I know most of you are complete noobs and can’t remember back to the day when games were an actual challenge. That’s right, many moons ago games used to make it hard to actually progress and didn’t just hand over the princess to your 4 player co-op session for dying repeatedly. MMOs like Everquest used to be notorious for locking out their end game by making you do ridiculous tasks just to get there. There was also Ultima Online that had a free PvP system and let griefers prosper, breaking into your pad and stealing shit that took you months to collect. But then things changed, the carebears demanded equality and we all suffered for it. Once WoW hit and sucked in every noob on the planet they had to dumb it down to keep pace with the sheer stupidity these noobs brought. Will we ever see the day where hardcore etiquette can flourish once again? Doubtful, but it is good to see someone out there is trying.

No Fluff Fan Films

You have to admit, sometimes fan made movies can be quite amazing. Especially with all of these Hollywood horror shows as they try and recreate our favorite games into believable movies and do a horrible job of it. Thanks a lot Uwe Boll you douche. Here’s a collection of some of the best fan made gamer movies ever made including the new Street Fighter Legacy clip. Read more »

Nintendo Next-Gen

It comes as no surprise that Nintendo’s Mario Bros. franchise is one of the most successful of all-time. But what if the classic Super Mario Bros. was released today? Yeah, pretty spot on. You have to admit, we ruin everything. Maybe Obama will save us?! Maybe not.

Make Your Move

Don’t Tweet Me, Bro!

Everyone is on Twitter now. Has it jumped the shark? Maybe.

Most view it as a superficial approach to social networking and they are totally right. While it is about broadcasting what you’re doing and thinking it’s not what everyone thinks. Most think it’s about some random person you follow that says “At a party tonight” but the reality is it’s someone you have some type of interest in that says “At a party and just watched @PaulyShore get a blowjob from a midget tranny”. For most, people don’t want to share their personal information for anyone to be able to read (you can protect your tweets) and I get that. Some just like to listen to people they find interesting. It can take some trial and error to find these people but there are plenty of people out there with either something worthy enough to say or to click on. Your favorite celebrities, comedians, actresses, athletes, businesses, local people, clothing lines, porn stars and even some of your real life friends can be found on twitter wasting time and replying to people.

The other thing people really enjoy about twitter is when an event happens. It can be a global or a local event, depending on who you are following the ‘talk’ will turn to that current event and you’ll have not only a comical insight but also more information made available than you would by hitting CNN or some other website. Trending topics allow you to even follow events or other things easily to see what and who is talking about stuff relevent to yourself. My favorite part of twitter however are the links. Plenty of people post news and the days links, in fact I consider twitter the 0-day of linkage. You just need to find people that post interesting stuff (like your favorite blogsites), it’s basically a more friendly RSS feed for some. IRC used to be the best place for us to get the most current links but no more. So yes, twitter is a bit douchey but it is the most entertaining of the social networks and eventually you’ll all be on it in some form so you might as well reserve your name, like rina did. Here’s some links that can help you figure out who is fun to follow.
