Am I the only person on earth who thinks Halo is shit? Getting really sick of all this pre-hype everywhere, the beta sucked and although it wasn’t a clear representation of the finished product I still think it’s going to be boring. Yes, console FPS aiming is always going to suck and for us PC gamers it’s an immediate turn off but regardless of all that it just wasn’t anything special. So stop mentioning there’s over a million pre-orders already, we don’t give a shit.

So fuck off with your custom Halo 360, homo erotic advertising, Halo fuel bullshit, faggoty promotions, dumb ass missile cases, custom Zunes and your stupid clothing and try to make an innovative game and not this cashing in on clueless gamers bullshit Bungie.
Damn, this video really does show how far from day to day voice recognition use we are. I’d of broken my monitor after the first minute. Programmers are truly patient!
Don’t you hate it when you’re having just a shit day where nothing goes right?
It’s not like it’s anything I can control, it just seems when bad luck hits you it comes in droves. Sometimes I wish I could just turn invisible and hide in my glass bubble.
Oh baby, finally an actual gameplay video for TF2!
I know alot of us are foaming at the mouth for the Orange Box and this will only wet your appetite. The video shows a bit of random class play (scout and hwguy) and then the class selection screen. Some people aren’t on board with the cell shading look of the game but I think it’s brilliant. They can pack a ton more animations into those style of characters and you’ll see how original it will look once it’s out. The countdown is on!

Bubbles the monkey was not amused.
I had mentioned the other day regarding the bid to takeover a football club in the UK. Well, they have now opened up memberships for North America. If interested, pony up the $70 and get your share!
Also don’t forget there’s only a few days before the Premiership begins. So sign-up for the Hostile EPL Fantasy League before Saturday!
So, its been a busy week over at Microsoft. The first thing you can’t avoid noticing this week is they have pushed out a console update over live. Its not as attractive as the last big overhaul they did, instead its just an update to add wireless guitar drivers for upcoming games. In addition to the announced price drops in the States and in Canada, they stealthily added HDMI to all premium consoles. This will become standard as current inventory moves off the shelves. Microsoft didn’t even confirm it until AFTER someone had bought one in a Target in Atlanta. Maybe they want to keep it quiet as HDMI was a major elite selling point.
Microsoft wasn’t the only ones busy on the 360 front recently. Someone has rigged a wiimote to work with the 360. It looks like it is working pretty damn good, check the video out after the jump. Someone else has put together a sweet 300 case mod for the 360. I’d rather have that than the Halo 3 360.
On the gaming side, Track and Field Arcade was released today. I’m heading over to check it out right after this post, need to find a controller with a turbo button first. John Woo’s StrangleHold demo snuck out onto the marketplace last night. Sierra also announced their upcoming game Timeshift will be released on Oct 30th.
Rumor has it KidRiot picked up a 360, so the Hostile 360 Crew continues to grow.

Oh god, have you ever been somewhere and seen something you wish you hadn’t seen? If you have you know how this guy must of felt. I’ll never look at Spiderman the same again.
Ok so you be the judge…which lookalike wins?
ex-Hostile Trueblood vs. Lance Bass
or
[Ht]UltraCarl vs. the Emperor of Japan
Carl clearly decimates the competition.

Across the pond in dreary old England, something very interesting is happening. Someone took the initiative to throw up a website to raise money to buy a football club. For those who don’t know, football is fanatically revered in the UK and by donating just 35 pounds members can buy ‘a share’ in this takeover bid on a real club.
This blows me away. The possibilities that the fans will get to control their own team is the ultimate test in sports. No one can bitch at bad trades and benchings if this fails! With the format that everyone can hold only one membership which equals one vote in all administrative moves the entire franchise will hinge on peoples votes for everything. In but a week they have over 50,000 members and haven’t even opened up membership outside of Europe. They have hired the right people and are for real. So, the question is if this works out could this work in the US or Canada? Could the Predators have been saved? Would a fan run MLS team spark interest? Could enough money be raised and an NFL or NBA franchise be purchased?
It’s been awhile since we’ve added a new Hostile but proud to say that Cijid has made the cut! Cijid has been a strong Planetsider for quite some time, was in our WoW guild and has been rocking the 360 titles with the core guys for awhile and is the only one who stuck with Gears after the fad wore off. He’ll also be administering the Planetside Forums so if you need access or an account authorized, he’s your man from now on.
I now dedicate this song to my new bitch, Cijid.
As someone who works in the entertainment industry, reviews are a tough pill to swallow sometimes. A lot can hinge on some pasty nerds thoughts on your product; be it a movie, a video game or a book you just wrote one persons bad mood can be your downfall. Because of this sites that amalgamate reviews seem to be used as industry standards and I know from experience I’d rather get a collection of reviews and find their average over one lone review. One site I like that does this is MetaCritic which covers all of the entertainment sectors.
Let’s see what’s hot and what’s not currently.
As movies go, the Bourne Ultimatum is receiving rave reviews and has gained an overall 85 rating. Some are saying it’s the best of the three. Pixar’s Ratatouille continues to have one of the highest ratings ever accumulated with a 95. Amazing, I haven’t seen it and will wait to view before judging it. I was looking forward to Hot Rod starring Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live but after reading the reviews and the accumulated 43 rating, think that will be a DiVX over theatre viewing.
For games, it’s been a slow month so not a lot being reviewed. An interesting one that was just posted is the PS3 only Lair dragon riding game which doesn’t have an official score yet but will be around the 70 rating area. Which isn’t good as this was one of the titles PS3 was banking on people needing to own. A surprising rating for another PS3 only title is for Ninja Gaiden Sigma which has an overall 88 rating. PS3 needs more of these highly rated exclusives if they plan to overtake the other 2. Indig reviewed Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii which right now has a 79 rating, which is good for a Wii title. The Resident Evil 4 version for the Wii clocks in with a 91 rating and is value priced as well.
So yeah, research your shit before you buy something! I won’t get into TV or music as everyone has different tastes. I’d review more books if I didn’t have PC based ADD and could read more than 10 pages without going into convulsions. Is there even any books reading anymore? I’m not into any of the Harry Potter books and the Penthouse Letters get old fast!

It was just confirmed that Microsoft is dropping the prices on all of its Xbox 360 bundles. The Elite only dropped $30 but Core and System (Premium) are down $50! The price drop goes into effect tomorrow. Look for preowned consoles across ebay and the like to drop by this amount as well! The price drop is meant to be timed to the upcoming release of Madden 08 as a way to grab up all of those Playstation 2 Madden fans who haven’t yet upgraded to the Playstation 3. While they were at it, they also announced the Halo 3 special edition console is going to ring in at $399. Xbox just keeps getting better and better.
In other 360 news, Forza released its first DLC, some free Nissan cars and some pay to play R1s, one of which is now the fastest car in the game. They are hinting at new tracks, but nothing official yet.
It didn’t take long for all the id games to hit steam as promised at QuakeCon 2007. You can grab all of them for a very reasonable price of $62.95 or you can get all of the Quake series for 26.95.
Some other notables from id:
- id Software’s next title will be named “Rage“. It will be a post-apocalyptic style FPS/racing game. The game will most likely occupy 2 DVDs or 1 Blueray disc.
- Quake0, a free web-based version of Quake3 is currently in development.
- id Software has hired a second team of developers to work on the “Quake 0″ title along with other projects.
- A Wolfenstein movie is currently in development.
Speaking of Rage here is some HD footage from QuakeCon.
Finally, Hellgate London announced its shipping date of October 31st.
