2k vs. EA

A few days ago warning mentioned how great EA’s NHL is up against 2k’s NHL. Well, let me be the first to tell you, warning is usually drunk and makes shit up. While him and I do own both copies we both prefer one over the other. So, with the new versions nearing completion it’s time to take a stand and go with one so that you have friends you can actually play with instead of random dipshits. Warning would have you believe EA’s is the superior game but wouldn’t a superior game be playable online? Because no EA sports title is very playable online and 2k has an excellent record with their online sports line-up really it’s a no brainer isn’t it. Oh, there’s a few other reasons after the break.

Video Game Retrospectives

GameTrailers LogoIf you haven’t been keeping up with videos as of recently, the site GameTrailers have been doing series of video game retrospectives. Back before the Wii launched they had The Legend of Zelda Retrospective which pretty much went back and revisited every single Zelda game known to man. It was indeed spoilerific but if you have played the games before, it gave you that false sense on nostalgia which always feels good no matter what you are doing.

Currently they are doing two different retrospectives. The first one being on the Metroid series, with 3 out of 5 released, it explores the inner depths of Metroid. The other retrospective they have running is The Final Fantasy Retrospective. Seeing how large Final Fantasy is, they have already said that this retrospective is going to be 13 parts. The Final Fantasy one comes every Sunday where as the Metroid comes on Thursday or Friday I believe. I have the current Metroid and Final Fantasy videos embedded inside. Read more »

Take A Bio Bath

BioShock has gone gold and for those who plan to be a part of the Cult of the Rapture you’ll be happy to know the 1.3gb demo is now up on XBox Marketplace. I tried it out and wow, BioShock is going to be sweet as hell. The graphics are some of the best I’ve seen on next gen and the eerie surroundings guarantee a thrilling and chilling backdrop the dark story. Just wait till you see a Big Daddy destroy someone to see what’s in store for you. There’s also a new 60 second launch trailer that was just released to get you enticed to slap on some swim trunks and come below sea level.

Phantom Of The Opera

I write a post singing the praises of FireFox and after posting it my godamn browser no longer works for blogging. Go figure, the browser gods must of been witnessing my siding with the evil Mozilla cult and frowned via javascript manipulation. Bastards. Anyways, I ended up going the Opera route to be able to spout my rants so lucky you?

Beckham rapes Canadians eh.

Sly As A FireFox

Ok, I know by now anyone savvy enough to use a computer uses FireFox. But I bet there’s still a ton of people out there who still don’t use this browser and who are either too lazy to install and switch to a slightly different format or are just plain clueless. Either way, today is your lucky day.

First, why FireFox? It’s simple. It’s the best browser for use and security. You won’t have to worry about pop-ups and even if you did get a couple through there’s ways to simply kill that ad from ever being displayed again. This is what makes FireFox superior overall, its extensions. Brilliant ‘widgets’ enhance your browser to superhero levels. Below I link my top 10 extensions which you can easily install and use or not use. Disabling extensions is as easy as using them in most cases. While don’t consider this scripture here is an article on the top 20 extensions and another for top 10 extensions to avoid.

1. Mouse Gestures
Mouse Gestures are shortcuts for simple net navigation moves. So, you just ‘draw’ a short line left and your browser goes back one page, draw a line down, then back up and your page reloads. You can customize as you see fit, once you get used to this base web navigation will never be the same.

2. Adblock Plus
So you’re surfing and there’s some nasty man pr0n in the corner. Right click, ad block and you will never see that image again. Ever. Or your money back.

3. Foxmarks
If you are ultimate nerd like me and have 3 different computers that factor into your daily life then Foxmarks is a must. Stores all your bookmarks online so that any FireFox you use can access it. Fully secure and synch stealths it’s way to basically giving you one set of bookmarks anywhere you are. Oh yeah, HD crash? Just login to get them all back.

4. DownThemAll!
For the leecher nation, displays a box on a webpage with all files selectable and downloadable. Great for any site with multiple mp3s and videos.

5. FireFTP / Chatzilla
A nice integrated FTP and IRC client programs for FireFox. While both are pretty standard for they both get the job done. Although Kamen should post Spork IRC up here, stingy bastard…

6. Tab Effects
A simple transition between tabs. It 3d’s the look. Don’ty be a selfish bastard and use this if on a crap rig, they say it’s a bit of a hog but that’s just for the welfare cases.

7. Fasterfox
It’s basically meth for FireFox. Speeds it up and keeps it revving until it crashes. Much like your meth head cousin.

8. IE Tab
Ok, I will admit. Once in a blue moon you may need to load up Internet Exploder to get the content you want, sometimes FireFox is picky. But now, just right click a link and go Open In IE Tab… and voila it’s still in your nice safe environment and not the evil clutches of Count Gates.

9. Tab Mix Plus
Not only does it give your tabs a ton more functionality but it also Saves your current sessions. Really, it’s key if you are planning to have 10 windows open with good shit then having it all crash down on you. Just re-open FireFox and your last session with it. Easy peasy.

10. Download Statusbar
Gets rid of annoying download pop-ups and integrates to the browser bar. With the amount of mp3 blogs I hit I can fill the bottom bar easy, can you?
