C U L8r Boi, it was announced that after a 2 day delay skate shipped yesterday. If you read my previous post, you know I’m already a fan of this game from the demo. Some lucky bastard already has his copy and is posting videos of him shredding up the megapark on skate.Reel.
The reviews are starting to come out, and they are looking good. IGN has given it a 9/10 and 1UP ranks it at 90%. Some more videos are sneaking out as well. Theres a new urban trailer and old town trailer. Did you catch the Intro I posted Yesterday? Its the best game intro I’ve ever seen.
What to do to pass the time tonight? Well I think I’ll watch some of the plethora of skateboarding videos on Google video.
- Element’s This is My Element
- Fourstar’s Super Champion FunZone
I also scored a vinyl skate faceplate recently, for the low low price of take pictures of it. Here are the results of that risky business venture.

As I’m about to get my cherry blog popped, I can’t think of a better way to endear myself to you folks than exposing some unfortunate kodak moments of normal people under the influence of the mighty alcohol. Normal people that earn a lot of money and play sports for a living.
Have some of Canada’s best with some fine German hops.
Burger goes well with alcohol.
Manning the karaoke is not good while intoxicated.
Slow down dog and get some Air will you?
It’s been a while since I have touched Steam, but after seeing the news that Valve pushed out new shit for it, I had to go re-download everything again. Needless to say, it is quite the improvement over the old ways. Let’s dive in a bit shall we?
One of the biggest additions is the “My SteamID”
For example if you follow this link to my SteamID profile you can see a lot of what has changed recently. You can have an avatar, information about yourself and favorite websites.
One of the best additions is the “Steam Group”, which Mad has already pointed out.
[Ht] Hostile Takeover Steam Group
Here everyone can join in public groups, or if the group is private you gotta be invited.
Along with that, it shows statistics of the entire group! Steam Rating, Playing Time, Member Average (playing time I am assuming), as well as breaking down what the users in the group play. Announcements can be made and you can schedule events as well.
The old stuff is still there such as friends list and the server listing, all in tact so no worries there. You don’t even need to use xFire with this since it handles all that already. So what are you waiting for? Are you going to play TF2? Download Steam Now and create an account then join the Hostile Takeover group!
Ok everyone. I know most of you have Steam installed for one reason or another, mostly to get your Counterstrike addictions fed and all that. But with the Orange Box pre-order (see announcement above) equalling TF2 beta pretty much all of us have pre-ordered to get a first glimpse at the re-make of the game that brought most of us together, it’s time to ensure we are all connected through Steam as well. So, if you have Steam installed it’s time to join the Ht group. This is a public group as we want all members and friends of the clan to join up so that initially we can all play together. I’ll announce recruitment restrictions once the game is actually released but in the meantime definitely join the group and on Monday when the beta is out start getting people ony our friends list. TF is a team game and you’re going to need some teammates, right? Well get on it then!
So with the TF2 beta only a few days away it’d be nice to know what maps they will include in the beta. I’m guessing only one map will be available throughout the entire beta but luckily for us we can still look at the default maps that will be released with the game. Check out this list of videos to get sneak previews on each.
I have to say, deep dissapointment here folks. I know we’re stuck in the old school and change can be good but not when it comes to maps. TF is the only game where people could play the same damn boring map all day every day for 5 years and not get sick of it and not to even include that map is just blasphemy in my opinion. At any rate, let’s hope the PC version allows full map making capabilities so we can re-make our private Hostile map!!

Duuuuuuudes.
Always know your dealer.
Don’t know if any of you know this but our boy [Ht]Gunny runs TF2.com. Gunny’s been sitting on this domain since the first announcement of TF2 occurred over 9 years ago. Fast forward to now and of course Valve comes a-knockin’, wanting the domain. But Gunny is a smart pickle and has decided to host what could be the premiere TF2 community site. So get your bookmarks going and keep an eye post release on this site.
To everyone that wanted to see Freddie Wong jam out on Guitar Hero 2 or to see MoB.GodFather give an awesome pep talk to his team, you won’t see it again soon. The news is seeping out but the World Series of Video Games has been cut short due to “lackluster results” and such. They had three more stops left in the year for their tournaments but we won’t see them at all. The next one would have been during E For All Expo (October 18-21), and a others over in London and Sweden.
What does this mean for us? Well we are now spared from terrible game play commentary of WoW arena and Quake 4 Deathmatch, at least I was spared from watching Fight Night 3. The other big tournaments would be MLG (Major League Gaming / Primarly consoles), CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League / Primarly PC), and CGS (Championship Gaming Series).
On the front page of the WSVG site is a letter from the company organizing the event, detailing why they did such actions.

Ah yes, the gangsta sim. San Andreas has always been my favorite of the GTA series. Vice City was excellent with cool missions and the whole Scarface rip-off but San Andreas was for my peeps, the N.W.A. generation. Never has a game done such a good job in making a city playable and fun. Plus, the sheer size of it was amazing. So, when Mesc pasted this link it sounded very intriguing to have MMO style gameplay in the San Andreas world. While I haven’t looked into it much yet nor tried it, it does sound wicked to get in, level up, get a gang going and take on other gangs in the world. The days of fighting AI are over, every game needs a multiplayer mode and GTA will have some form of it in the next version, I’ll guarantee it. Until then, play this.
Congrats go out to one of our oldest members [Ht]Reesedog, who on Monday had his first kid! Madelaine Theresa is her name and she came in at 10 pounds, 3 ounces. Congrats all around and let’s get her a copy of TF2 to play with instead of stupid Barbies mmk?

It looks like Valve is going to keep making these class videos, so I made a page for us to keep track of them. Hit it up to catch the latest engineer video.
Here are some other videos that came out today:

If you’ve tried the Skate demo on 360 I bet you’ve been impressed with how easy they integrated the controls to analog sticks. It’s easy and fun to do tricks. My only knock is the presence of manual tricks to string together, you know eventually the missions will have you comboing till your fingers bleed. But what I do love is the open world environment where all kinds of whacky things can happen! Skate is out this week.
