I love when a game does something overly creative. Halflife 2 Episode 2 has a gnome present. Yes, this is for aesthetics but with the advent of achievements there is a point to this bearded li’l tosser. In the real world there is tales of gnomes being taken on vacation and then photographed, well Valve has included this scenario into Episode 2. Carry the gnome all the way to the end and blast him off in the rocket and boom! Achievement‘ed. Here’s a rundown of how to do it.

A Guitar Hero 3 demo was shipped with Tony Hawk proving grounds. For those of us not interested in the new Tony Hawk (anyone whos played skate), you can head over here to download the demo. Some people have figured out how to extract the demo to a playable ISO. Just burn the ISO to a CD or DVD, stick it in your 360, go to demos and rock out. There is a chance your console wont be able to play the burned demo, but such is haxory.

Ignore warning’s double post, sometimes he is just a forgetful person. In other news, today begins the new experimental convention called E For All or Entertainment For All over at the Los Angeles Convention Center. I call it experiment because it was spawned due to the collapse of E3 last year, yet it doesn’t have the support of the industry. The only big names I saw in the list was Nintendo, THQ, EA, and a couple of others.
Anyhow I will still be heading down there tonight. There are a couple of other [Ht]’s down there on site and if you wanna kick it, drop a line on the forums.

I mentioned the other day Hojo had a big winning day in pokerland. Looks like he now has a fan club and a line-up of people to stake him for anything he wants to play. Let’s hope he didn’t get involved in these cheating allegations that have come out. I know I’m not, but I’ll wear the t-shirt to show my support for the cheaters!! Anything to take down these godamn poker sites that spam my boob tube with annoying commercials all night. C’mon, get some originality poker sites.

In other TF2 news, I added instant respawn to [Ht] Virginia Forts Fiasco and if you want to be as cool as these guys, you might want to pickup some TF2 apparel.
After our CEVO opponents didn’t show last night, we did some scrimming, then opened up San Jose Slaughter and tried out some of the many custom maps. Lots of crap maps out there but I think we found a real gem with ctf_mine4. It is small and condensed, but very unique.
Set inside, you guessed it, a mine, you get about 30 seconds of setup time until the doors open and chaos ensues. Unlike all other current ctf maps, this map is all about capping just once. The intel never returns to base. In “canalzone like” fashion, the intelligence makes you move SLOW. The middle seems similar to Rock, with water entrances low, and 2 sniper battlements enclosed into the one large wall of each base. Also similar to Rock, once a team captures the intel, alarms sound, and if you want to live you need to retreat to small areas of the capturing team’s base. The doors start closing slowly and there are many good times had as people do not make it under the doors in time.
