
Mine Mayhem
After our CEVO opponents didn’t show last night, we did some scrimming, then opened up San Jose Slaughter and tried out some of the many custom maps. Lots of crap maps out there but I think we found a real gem with ctf_mine4. It is small and condensed, but very unique.
Set inside, you guessed it, a mine, you get about 30 seconds of setup time until the doors open and chaos ensues. Unlike all other current ctf maps, this map is all about capping just once. The intel never returns to base. In “canalzone like” fashion, the intelligence makes you move SLOW. The middle seems similar to Rock, with water entrances low, and 2 sniper battlements enclosed into the one large wall of each base. Also similar to Rock, once a team captures the intel, alarms sound, and if you want to live you need to retreat to small areas of the capturing team’s base. The doors start closing slowly and there are many good times had as people do not make it under the doors in time.
