I have to apologize for the lack of updates but I knew this day would come, things will slow down around here over the next few months. With my new job and a new internet business underway I just don’t have the time to scour the internets for all the cool stuff to post anymore. IRC used to be a great place to get links but even that has seemed to dry up over the last few years. I am looking to motivate Hostiles to start posting but they are even lazier than me. But fear not we still have things on the go. Gaming wise, Starcraft 2 beta starts up again so expect the tournaments to start again, plenty of great console games that we’re all currently playing so hit up the Ht list and add us as friends if you’d like to play. We also will have the Ht shirts coming soon and maybe even a resurgence of Hostilecon one of these days. I appreciate our regular readers especially since some of them have been around for a decade now and would love to be able to continue to post the side of the internets most don’t come across but time may just not allow it, we’ll see!!

A lot of people ask me if Od3rus is in Hostile Takeover. I always reply yes, for many years actually and they always ask why? I think that’s kind of a rude question to ask but I guess since Odie basically just sits in IRC and makes fun of us all for actually playing games while he refuses to participate from his holy pedestal I can see why people would ask me this. But Odie has proven himself in battle and because of this we get to enjoy his other forays as well, such as this one into his fecal fantasies.

Ht SC2 Beta Tournament Ends

So the Hostiles wrapped up the first Starcraft 2 tournament the other day, kidRiot took the final against Rang. You can watch the Finals replays if you have the beta. Kart did a good job of organizing the first one even with all of his shortcomings and his first round exit so I’ve decided to give him a hand so these can complete a bit easier for everyone involved. The beta ends June 7th so we’ll resume once the game is released. We’ll do 1vs1 and 2vs2 to start and rank people accordingly. So to be ranked you’ll need to compete! So buy SC2 when it comes out and stay tuned. Here’s some SC2 vids kidRiot posted yesterday if you needed some motivation.

Starcraft 2 may only be in Beta but that hasn’t stopped #Hostile from organizing a tournament to see who is currently the best. Like any tournament it’s a bitch to get everyone to play their matches but they are going down and the cream is rising to the top. So stay tuned to see who ends up taking the whole thing. My money is on kidRiot as he seems to be owning everything as of late, even if it’s usually due to his hax.

San Jose Squad Rush

I hate to admit it but Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a very good game.

I have nothing against this franchise, I’ve always felt they release games quickly and do innovate on their tech. But they always seem to mimic current trends and this one was no different with a media art style akin to Modern Warfare’s and releasing statements that this will kill the current top shooter. But they delivered a great game, with the Rush game mode being a refreshing change in standard team deathmatch formats. But because of this you do need skilled friends to play with to actually do well and it’s not the greatest game to go solo in. But if you do have friends playing it then you’ll be leveling your 5 classes in mere sessions. If you do currently play it then here’s statistical breakdowns of everything so you can best utilize your classes, some weapon use statistics and here’s various sigs you can use to brag with.

We now have a Bad Company 2 server up thanks to Cijid. It’s located in San Jose and you can donate for admin rights. Expect it to run Rush and expect to be owned by some Hostile squads. I personally play on 360 with some others but have heard nothing but good things about the PC version.

Preying Upon The Gullible

Hey, it’s the end of that day where you get to expose how stupid your friends and coworkers are by pranking them. I personally love it and just wait for the forced awkwardness that is bound to happen. You know that moment when someone gets all bothered right after they have been had by a good joke in the workplace? Here is how I invision the thought process of someone I will let remain nameless.

WHAT? I was complaining about how much adding voice commands to the copier must have cost when it was just a prank to get people to talk to themselves? I can’t laugh that off I must now redirect my misplaced cost savings anger and compose a memo about how inappropriate humor is in the workplace regardless of occasion!

I have been working as a computer janitor recently so my new favorite thing to do is expose everyone’s troubleshooting flaws by taping a picture of goatse to the bottom of their optical mouse. “Man I tried unplugging it and rebooting but it just won’t work! It worked yesterday. I’m going to get another one.” That is when I toss out the maybe the “laser” is broken and watch the horror as they flip over and see the Receiver!

Oh good times are had on this day. It’s the day when your inner evil can peek its head out disguised as a good sense of humor to those dopes who struggle to get through the day without drawing attention to their own stupidity. Overall, it’s a day where hidden talent can shine in my opinion.

Hostilecon Sign-ups

We have set the dates for HostileCon!! It will take place in Las Vegas on November 12th to the 14 of 2010. Head over to this thread to sign-up! We’ll be conducting a head count first so just sign-up if you know you want to attend. We’ll then book the place and post the prices and then you can confirm or not for the final list.

So what will be doing in Vegas over these 3 days? Well nothing is set in stone but look for the first day where we will head to the Hotel that is chosen, check in then meet for a quick lunch/dinner to get acquainted. From here I’ll hand out the Achievement list and then it’s up to you guys to partner up and work out how you want to tackle the list. The Vegas Achievements will give you points for documenting fun and crazy tasks you can do around Vegas. These are completely optional but to win schwag you’ll need to participate. You’ll also need a digital camera to get the Achievements. We’ll have a team you can bring your camera in for scoring and we’ll try to update the score each day. The Saturday is completely open for Achievement hunting or other related debauchery and we’ll most likely do our drunken club night that night. Sunday will be to round up the last Achievements you can get in the morning and then we’ll finish off the scoring over brunch and then hand out the prizes. Then everyone heads the fuck home, never to see one another again (hopefully).

Allods Online is now in Open Beta. This means they will not be wiping characters so get your grind on if interested. You can grab the client for this Free2Play MMO and I’d recommend you read Bucky’s thread to get up to speed. You might even want to plan out a class before starting as well. Anyone who is playing will be on the server Tensess and we’ll be playing on the Empire side.
